What is Care Haus?
Who are the doulas at Care Haus?
2
Each doula at Care Haus brings their own unique experience, skills and perspective to your journey. We are here to support you, honor your choices and help you navigate this transformative time with care and confidence.
Shanay Rocker, Jes Walsh, Weih Borh, MJ (Marie-Jo) Camara, Elmi Amaran and Frances Witherspoon are all part of the collective.
Are your doulas trained or certified?
3
Our doulas come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a wealth of experience supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Many of us are professionally trained or certified as birth and/or postpartum doulas. We are all committed to the continued development and expansion of our doula skills as well as in complementary areas such as massage, sleep consultation, Reiki, placenta encapsulation and childbirth education. Together, we offer knowledgeable and compassionate support tailored to your family’s unique needs.
Midwives provide medical care during pregnancy and birth. Doulas focus on emotional, physical, and informational support. We are non-medical professionals who help families feel confident, advocate for their choices and provide comfort and guidance before, during, and after birth. Our team’s varied expertise allows us to support prenatal planning, birth, and postpartum care in ways that complement your medical team, while keeping your emotional wellbeing at the center.

Pricing, Insurance, and Booking

Absolutely. After your first consultation, we offer a introductory call where you can meet your potential doula, ask questions, and get a sense of how it would feel to work together. There’s no pressure - just a gentle space to see if the connection feels right. If, after the call you’d like to explore other doulas within our collective, we’re happy to arrange that too.

Our pricing varies depending on the type and length of support you’re looking for. Once we learn a little more about your needs, we can offer a personalized quote that reflects the kind of care that will best support you and your family.

In Germany, doula support is generally not automatically covered by statutory health insurance (gesetzliche Krankenkasse). However, there are important exceptions and possibilities for reimbursement depending on your situation and your health insurance provider.
-
While doula services are not routinely covered, Haushaltshilfe (household support) can often be reimbursed under certain medical conditions.
Your statutory health insurance may cover Haushaltshilfe if:
You are pregnant or recently gave birth
You are physically unable to manage your household
There is a medical certificate (ärztliches Attest) confirming the necessity
There is at least one child under 12 years old (or a child with disability) in the household
-
Ask your doctor (Hausarzt*in or Gynäkolog*in) for a medical certificate stating that household help is medically necessary.
Contact your Krankenkasse and request the Haushaltshilfe application form.
Submit:
The medical certificate
The completed application form
Wait for written approval before starting services (important for reimbursement).

In most cases, postpartum doula services and in-home support are not covered by private health insurance, as doulas are not recognized as medical providers within standard insurance benefits. This means that if you would like postpartum doula support, the services usually need to be paid privately.
Please check with your insurance provider to see if you may benefit from doula support.

Booking with us is a simple and gentle process - by going to our contact page, you’ll be able to send us an inquiry.
